When you have acne or an oily skin it can be very devastating. You travel around with a hand kerchief to wipe your face but the oil just keep coming back. Many teenagers have this problem and also many adults.
In order to treat acne and get rid of the oily skin, we must first know what causes it so that we can attack the problem from the heart.
Well an oily skin is caused by over active sebaceous glands which also leads to acne. These are glands below the surface of the skin that secretes an oil called sebum that protects the hair follicles. Now when the glands produce an excess amount of this oil, it accumulates and gets thick and then blocks the skin pores. This traps dirt and bacteria and so the body’s defense system has to send out some specialized kind of white blood cells to get rid of the bacteria. The white blood cells will digest the bacteria which will mix with the dirt and dead skin cells. The mixture is called puss which is forced to the surface of the skin where it forms an acne pimple.

Ensuring that your skin is clean:
You should ensure that your skin is clean by having a shower at least twice per day. Doing this will help to remove dead skin cells, dirt and even trapped bacteria from the surface of the skin which can clog the pores. It is best sometimes to cleanse you skin with a little warm water to remove the excess oil as it will be harder to remove most of the oil with cold water. (water and oil dont mix)
