Beauty Comes From Within That’s Why It’s Important to Eat Healthy Foods

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but your appearance is usually the first impression that someone gets when seeing you for the first time. Perhaps that’s why women in particular spend millions of dollars each year trying to enhance the natural beauty that nature has bestowed upon them.

While there are all sorts of creams and concoctions, exercises to do and plastic surgery available, it might be helpful to know that there are many natural ways to protect your skin, hair and nails just by eating certain foods that can easily be found at your grocer’s market. These foods contain the same beneficial ingredients found in some of the more expensive ointments used in world famous spas and beauty treatments. Find out which foods are the best for women to add to their diet.

Stop the outbreak of pimples and blackheads by protecting your complexion from free radicals by eating lots of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Oranges, strawberries, grapefruit, kiwi and broccoli are all good choices that also help to build collagen for that wrinkle free look that women pay dearly for.

To keep skin soft and supple, moisturize it daily and always use a sunscreen. Fortify yourself from within by eating foods that provide hydration boosting vitamin E. Almonds eaten as a snack or tossed over green beans are a great way to supply a healthy dose of E as well as eating half of an avocado every day. There are so many great ways to enjoy an avocado, sliced with a tomato, eaten together or on a sandwich in place of mayo. Mash it up and spread it over bread or crackers too.

Love the tan but hate the damage? Brighten dull skin by eating carrots, sweet potatoes and squash, all rich in beta carotene that helps to protect the body’s cells. Eaten regularly, the coloring in the veggies can give your skin a natural and healthy glow.

For beautiful hair and nails, your body needs to fortify itself with healthy servings of protein. Lean meats such as chicken, turkey and pork tenderloin as well as fish and seafood, can provide a woman with the protein needed without the burden of excess fat. Yogurt is another wonderful choice because it is low in fat but provides an adequate serving of protein and amino acids that help to strengthen nails for a perfect set of 10.

Rid your face of swelling, baggy eyes and dark circles. Inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury or illness. However chronic inflammation can result in illness and is usually caused by diet and lifestyle, such as consuming high amounts of carbohydrates, sugars and alcohol, and behaviors that include smoking and a sedentary lifestyle. You can reduce unhealthy chronic inflammation by changing your current lifestyle and making the decision to eat healthy foods containing omega-3 fatty acids like grilled salmon, mackerel and trout. Sprinkle walnuts over a salad and add flaxseed to veggies and meats to give your body the boost it needs to reduce swelling and protect the immune system.
