Help Relieve Your Rosacea With a Regular Fast

For Rosacea it may well be worth considering a fasting program. There are many reasons for suggesting this, not least the fact that a build up of toxins can be eliminated through the skin which can be a causative factor in Rosacea. This is definitely a threshold trigger which is unique to the individual. What we know for sure is that over time toxins build up in the body as the result of the pollutants in the air we breathe, the chemicals in the food and water and more chemicals being absorbed through our skin. As a further example if we take a ‘western liver’ it has to deal with up to 30,000 chemicals daily, absorbed through the skin, ingested or breathed in from the air (60 years ago this figure was just 300). So by relieving the body of the work of digesting foods, fasting permits the system to rid itself of toxins while facilitating healing. The net effect is a fast can help you heal your skin with greater speed; cleanse your liver, kidneys and colon; purify your blood; help you lose excess weight and water; flush out toxins; clear the eyes and tongue; and cleanse the breath. In an ideal world you would fast at least three days a month, and follow a ten day fast at least twice a year. Lets be clear here, its really the three day fast to go for as this is the one that helps the body to rid itself of toxins and cleanses the blood. What follows are some precautions that must be adhered to:

  • While on the fast, consume at least eight 8-ounce glasses of steam-distilled water a day, plus pure juices and up to 2 cups of (room temperature not hot) herbal teas a day.
  • Do not fast on water alone. This releases toxins too quickly and as a Rosacea sufferer you are likely to have an over worked liver whose work load will spike causing headaches and worse.
  • Follow a live juice diet. This both removes toxins and promotes healing by supplying the body with vitamins, minerals and enzymes.
  • When you fast for more than three days do so only under the supervision of a qualified health care professional. If you have diabetes, hypoglycaemia, or any other chronic health problem, even short fasts should be supervised by your doctor.
  • Pregnant or lactating women should never fast.

So how about a really excellent Rosacea calming recipe for fasting?

Ready… here goes… Juice together 3 carrots, 3 kale leaves, 2 stalks of celery, 2 beets, 1 turnip, ¼ pound of spinach, ½ head of cabbage, ¼ bunch of parsley, ¼ of an onion, and ½ clove of garlic. Fantastic!

One last thing, before during and after your fast consider using a dry skin brush. A natural bristle brush fitted with a long handle helps the skin get rid of toxins and dead cells. Always brush towards the heart – from wrist to elbow, elbow to shoulder, ankles to knees, knees to hips, and so on. Now with Rosacea you must exercise extreme caution and never use the brush on affected areas of the body. Avoid brushing areas of the body that are broken or recently scarred, or have protruding varicose veins. However we think the benefits of greatly improving circulation and helping the skin to excrete toxins is worth investigation.
