How My Grandmother Kept The Wrinkles Away

My grandmother had the most beautiful flawless translucent skin.

I used to sit in front of the dressing mirror with her. Before she put on the rouge, loose powder and lipstick, she would do little exercises with her face. Pushing parts of her face this way and that. Hanging upside down on the bed. Sticking her tongue out. Generally making funny faces.

I would imitate her and we would both have a good laugh. It was fun and entertaining when I was small, but now I realize the reason she had beautiful flawless translucent skin. She was working at it.

As we both got much older I began to notice her face still had a youthful appearance about it. I noticed this most when she was entertaining a group of friends about her same age. I’m pretty sure they didn’t do grandmothers’ face exercises. I remember those exercises and I’m going to share some of them with you today in this article.

One I remember well is the one she did for her under eye circles. Using both hands, she would place her first three fingers of each hand under her eyes. She said you had to be very careful because the skin under the eye is the most delicate and easy to damage skin on your body. Keeping her eyes open she would use her fingers to gently lift the under eye skin up. She would hold to a count of ten. She would then remove her fingers letting the under eye skin relax for a count of ten. She repeated this twenty five times. This kept the blood from pooling, she said. That blood is what makes the under eye area appear dark.

This next one is done one eye at a time. Place the first two fingers of your left hand above the left eye on the brow bone. Place the thumb of your left hand below the left eye just above the cheek bone. Now try to wink your left eye. Do this winking exercise fifty times on each side. Now for the neck. This may make you a bit dizzy, so plan to do it when you have a few minutes to regain your balance. Lay down on your back on a bed or sofa or anything that allows you to hang your head over and down. Now lift your head up slowly and hold to a count of at least ten. Up to twenty counts would increase the benefits of this exercise if you are able. Repeat this fifteen to twenty times. This will firm the neck and jaw line. It also works to tighten a double chin over time.

These beauty tricks will improve your appearance if you do them regularly. As an added benefit the above techniques may be used to entertain small children. Happy laugh lines to you.
