Many acne suffers are turning to alternative forms of treatment when it comes to dealing with their acne. The three main reasons for that are firstly, conventional acne treatments are not very effective, the second reason is the cost. and the third reason is the possible side effects that can come from using these conventional methods.

There are many forms of alternative treatment available today, but the one we will focus on here is Chinese herbal treatment. The Chinese are well known for their belief that having a healthy mind, body and soul are essential for life. They are also known for creating many of the natural health treatments that are available today, treatments that have been around for thousands of years!

When it comes to treating acne, they have found that herbal remedies can be very effective, specifically, Chinese herbal remedies.

Here are some of these herbs as well as the benefits.

  • Burdock root seed. This herb has anti-inflammatory properties as well as being beneficial at detoxifying the body and as a blood cleanser. It is most often combined with dandelion or yellow dock and is taken internally. Burdock root seed has been known to be very effective in treating all sorts of skin conditions, including, eczema, psoriasis, boils, gout, and of course, acne.
  • Neem This herb has very powerful anti-bacterial properties, and as a result it is very effective at controlling the bacteria that causes infection as well as reducing the inflammation associated with acne. Many have found that using neem oil can be effective in treating their acne.
  • Honeysuckle The honeysuckle flower also has anti-inflammatory as well as antimicrobial properties that can be beneficial in the treatment of acne. Honeysuckle can help to detoxify your body causing more perspiration resulting in a cleansing effect.
  • Chamomile Usually found in tea, but is also very effective when used externally as it can rebuild skin cells and reduce inflammation. So it can be very effective at minimizing breakouts and calming your skin.
  • Chaste tree berry The chaste tree berry can be very helpful at stimulating the pituitary glands which aid in the production of oil. It is also known to help with the progesterone and oestrogen balance in women. Drinking tea made with chaste tree berry and calendula can be effective in preventing breakouts.
