Lactic Acid Peel ‘Revealed’ – BEST for Sensitive Skin

One way to rejuvenate and improve skin texture and appearance is to introduce lactic acid peeling into your skin, especially if you are new to acid peeling and if you have a highly sensitive skin.

Lactic acid belongs to a family of acids commonly known as AHA or Alpha Hydroxyl Acid. Lactic acid is derived from yogurt, buttermilk, sour cream, and mostly from fermented milk. It’s much milder than other AHA acids. This type of acid is already in human cells which makes it a safer hydroxyl acid to use than glycolic acid. Unlike glycolic acid, lactic acid has one of the largest molecules, thus penetration in the skin is much slower which results in less irritation to the skin. This is a good advantage for first time users or sensitive skin so as not to shock the skin from unfamiliar entity.

Glycolic acid peel works on the outermost layer of the skin, gently sloughing off old and dead skin cells; this is not a deep peel. It also stimulates elastic fibers and promotes production of collagen in the dermis layer of the skin thus revealing fairer, younger, smooth, healthy skin.

Before starting the treatment, prepare the things that you will need. This will include facial wash, soft towel, baking soda or water, and of course your lactic acid chemical peel. Make sure that you have cleansed thoroughly the skin to be treated. This is important. Consider washing it with mild soap or facial wash. Ensuring that the skin is well dried, carefully apply the solution to the skin avoiding the eyes and nostrils. When you feel uncomfortable sensation into your skin, readily wash it off with water or baking soda.

After the treatment, expect a tingling sensation into your face (or whatever body part is being applied) for a while. Do not panic, this is just normal. Definitely, you will notice dryness and redness into the skin, and would surely feel more of a burning sensation.

I would recommend using this chemical peel during days without work or days when you don’t have to meet up with people because in case the reaction messes up your face you still have time for redness to subside or heal the skin.

When it is performed and applied correctly lactic acid peel paves it way for greater skin condition. But if done improperly can be dangerous to your skin. So before considering this kind of skin treatment, take some time to make sure you EXACTLY know what you are doing. I highly recommend that you consult and visit your doctor, dermatologist or your skin technician before trying ANY acid peeling.
