Men and women can seem to be different species at times. Men tend to like sports, while women tend to like shopping. Men prefer video games while women prefer a girl’s night out to the movies. Women seem to be more sensitive, while men seem to be a little more tough.
Although these may apply to some women and men, we may have more in common than we think. And not only with things we like to do, but with what happens to our bodies.
Men go through different bodily changes than we do, but the symptoms and affects are basically the same. Women get moody and have slight personality changes, as do men. But when it comes to acne, we are pretty much equal.
Acne affects men just the same as it can affect women. Women may, at times, get it more often or worse than men just because they can be more emotionally sensitive and it unfortunately shows up on their faces.
But while men go through puberty, or even if they aren’t, they can experience acne just like women. Men usually break out all over their faces and develop severe acne until it gradually goes down to being mild, moderate, or non-existent.
For men, this can be embarrassing and lower their self-esteem because they feel they are supposed to appear tough and manly and pimples all over the face does not project that image.
If you are a man and suffering from acne, know that it is just as normal and happens to other men as well. Many others have gone through the same thing you are going through and you are not alone.
