Signs You Might Have a Yeast Infection

Firstly, you may ask :

What is Yeast?

Yeast which is present during an Infection is actually a fungus scientifically known as Candida. The specific type of fungus which is usually found in a Vaginal Infection is Candida albicans. In fact, up to 75% women have experienced Yeast Infection in their lifetime.

What are the signs of Yeast Infection in the Vaginal Area?

– The most common symptom is itchiness around the vaginal area. (This itchiness is caused by the overgrowth of fungi in your vaginal area)

– Burning, redness or swelling around your vaginal area.

– Painful Vaginal Intercourse

– Thick discharge like cottage cheese, white and lumpy.

– Foul smell (like stale fish, beer)

What are the usual causes of Vaginal Yeast Infection?

– Overgrowth of fungi that lives in the vaginal area

– Often overgrowth is caused by recent use of antibiotics (a cup of yogurt a day would help to prevent Yeast Infection)

– Are you used to wearing nylon clothing or inner garments made of nylon / Lyera? It would be advisable to stick to wearing cotton panties as nylon / Lyera traps heat and moisture.

– Obesity

– Diabetes ( Increased consumption of sugar would increase your body’s sugar levels hence Yeast would grow more rapidly)

– Have you been going swimming and is used to the habit of staying in your wet garments for an extended period of time before taking them off? This could lead to growth of Yeast.

– Scented toilet paper (Not advisable)

– Strong scented body wash used near vaginal area. (Note that, the vaginal area is very sensitive. Therefore it is advisable not to use body wash to clean your private parts – water is sufficient)

– Using powder (Not advisable)

Even though Vaginal Yeast Infection is common amongst women, it would be good to remove them as soon as possible because it is unhealthy. Not to mention, it could make your life really miserable.
