Some Simple Acne Treatment Tips

Most women spend hundreds of dollars on expensive ointments and beauty salon treatments and are still left with unsatisfactory results when there are simple procedures one can do in the comfort of their own home to ensure their skin is healthy and blemish-free. Read on for recommendations on keeping your skin healthy and happy:

1. Exfoliate often

Excess oils produced by the skin clog pores and cause pimples to form; dead skin cells accumulate and need to be regularly removed to give way to the new, healthier skin layer. Make sure you gently exfoliate your face once or twice a week and it will dramatically reduce the appearance of black spots and blemishes.

2. Avoid touching your face

Throughout the day avoid touching your face as hands sweat and this transfers to the face. Most people are compelled to pop a pimple the moment it appears, but this can actually worsen the acne as it spreads bacteria and cause infections.

3. Apply ice and honey

Ice helps tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of pores. Applying ice helps remove oils and dirt and reduces redness and swelling. When your acne gets inflamed – a single ice-cube can do wonders. Honey acts as a natural antiseptic that soothes and heals the skin. Applying honey masks works against the acne problem and is a good preventative measure.

4. Apply toothpaste

Use this as a quick trick to fix an inflamed pimple if you have no time for homemade masks or remedies. A small dab of toothpaste on the affected area and leave for several hours or overnight, then wash away. This will cause the pimple to dry out, but remember to only use white toothpaste and never such with whitening properties.

5. Aloe Vera

When it comes to acne few things are as effective as the aloe vera. This plant has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-septic and astringent properties and can be used as a facial mask, moisturizer, oil or included in your diet. It does wonders in reducing and preventing acne as it regenerates and soothes the skin, stimulating cell growth.

Acne can be unpleasant, but it’s never a stand-alone problem. Many times the cause lies in our lifestyle habits, diet choices or stress levels and we need to examine those to see an unhealthy pattern that requires changing. Remember – healthy and beautiful skin comes from within. Sometimes the problem can require medical attention, in which case skin doctor provides effective treatment to get rid of acne and restore skin to its natural, beautiful state.
