Vinegar Often Used To Treat Fungus Infections

Vinegar is often used to prevent and cure toenail fungus infections. A nail fungus cannot survive in an acid environment. Many people apply vinegar to their nails every day to prevent fungus infections.

The acidity of vinegar relieves the itchiness and repairs the PH balance that is necessary to combat fungi. Though various types of vinegar will treat a nail fungus, simple white vinegar works very well. Other types of vinegar include apple cider vinegar, malt vinegar, white wine vinegar, fruit vinegar and rice vinegar. The idea of treating fungus infections with vinegar is not new. Vinegar was used for medical purposes dating back thousands of years.

White vinegar can be poured into a basin and cover the affected toe completely. This should be done for at least thirty minutes. Make sure you dry your foot completely after soaking in vinegar. Some people apply a vinegar soaked bandage to the toe that can be worn all day.

Sometimes vinegar is mixed with hydrogen peroxide as a foot soak. This should be done at least twice a day for thirty minutes at a time. Be sure that the affected toe is fully immersed in the vinegar/hydrogen peroxide soaking solution.

Some people believe that taking two spoonfuls of apple cider vinegar can help treat a nail fungus infection from the inside out. This vinegar should be taken three times a day. The taste of apple cider vinegar is offensive to some people and so they mix it with fruit juice. The acid in vinegar can be harmful to the surface of your teeth so be sure to brush immediately after taking the vinegar.

One of the best things about vinegar is that it is an extremely cost effective way to treat nail fungus infections. Vinegar has been very effective in many cases but it can take several months for the vinegar to completely cure a fungus infection. The key to treatment with vinegar is consistency. If you are seeing a physician for your toenail fungus infection make sure that he knows that you are using vinegar as a home remedy.
