Growing older is inevitable, but it’s not an event that we should dread. Some of the things which are consistent with getting older will undoubtedly happen, but luckily, we can have some control on how quickly these things do happen, and we can also help ourselves to look younger, for longer.
Cosmetic injections and non-invasive procedures can help to keep the years at bay, but there are things that we can easily do to make natural improvements to our face and body, even as we age.
Have a good skin care routine
The face, neck and hands will show the most signs of ageing as they are always on show, facing the hot or cold weather, the wind and rain and the environment. A solid skin care routine will include cleansing, toning and moisturising and a weekly exfoliation. Microdermabrasion treatments can treat blotchy, uneven skin tones, dull lifeless skin and lines and wrinkles, leaving you with smoother skin and impressive and lasting results.
Use sunscreen
Using sun protection is the most important way that we can slow down the effects of ageing. Overexposure to the sun will directly lead to premature ageing, and repeated sun exposure won’t just give you sunburn, it will damage the skin at the DNA level. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen thirty minutes before going outside and reapply often. Too much sun will result in the start of fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, pigmentation and dull skin. Chemical peels can help correct signs of ageing, texture and tone of the skin and the effects of sun damaged.
Wear minimal make-up
Wearing heavy make-up tends to sit on the skin, bringing attention to the skin’s wrinkles and creases, so a light layer of make-up will look less ageing. Less is definitely more. A semi-permanent make-up treatment will give you a flawless look without overloading the face with products.
Stop smoking
As well as being extremely bad for your health and costing a fortune, smoking will ruin your skin. Not only will it give you a dull complexion, smoking will cause smoker’s lines around the lips and mouth. These lip lines can easily be corrected with dermal filler injections.
Healthy eating and exercise
Eating a healthy diet and exercising can help you stay fit and strong and keep your body in good shape. You don’t have to go to a gym to exercise; walking, swimming or biking works just as well. Alternatively, vaser lipo is a minimally invasive body contouring treatment, which can remove the unwanted fat you can’t shift through exercising alone.
Stay Hydrated
Water lubricates the joints and helps to flush toxins from the body. Dehydration is a common cause of ageing skin, and drinking the required amount of water, usually about two litres of water a day, will help to restore elasticity and plump up the skin, adding a youthful glow.
So while there are lots of things we can do ourselves to slow down the rate of ageing, there are also many great non-surgical cosmetic treatments that can help.
If you need help choosing a cosmetic procedure, we provide an extensive range of cosmetic procedures for the face and body: Botox, Vaser Lipo, Lip Augmentation, Dermal Fillers and many more treatments, to help create a younger, slimmer, more youthful looking you!
